Mortiis has released a new 3-track digital EP titled Farewell Romero, based around the track of the same name from his latest album, Ghosts of Europa, released earlier this year via Prophecy Productions.
The EP features the original album version of “Farewell Romero,” a new reimagined version titled “Farewell Romero (No Longer Feel the Same)” featuring French classical pianist Nicolas Horvath, and a new “Madrigal Version” of “Violent Silence” featuring Laurie Ann Haus (formerly of Todesbonden).
Speaking about the release, Mortiis said: “It has always been my nature to experiment and try new ideas, so to some, it’s probably not a surprise that I had a couple of variations of some of the songs from Ghosts of Europa sitting around.”
He added: “When I write songs, I tend to try a lot of directions out, and sometimes there are brutal production decisions to be made, such as killing off otherwise great melodies, or entire sections, from songs. This is probably why I have always been pretty open to creating variations of the songs.”
Track list:
01. Farewell Romero
02. Farewell Romero (No Longer Feel the Same)
03. Violent Silence (Madrigal Version)
Mortiis will also continue with his previously announced live dates, including his Latin American tour this October and Australian dates in November.
