Motörhead have released a new lyric video for “Built For Speed,” featuring a previously unreleased remix by longtime producer Cameron Webb. The track is the second preview of the band’s upcoming 40th anniversary edition of Orgasmatron.
The animated lyric video was created by Lee Gregory of ILoveMotion and accompanies Webb’s new remix of the entire 1986 album, which was reconstructed using the original multitrack recordings.
The Orgasmatron 40th Anniversary Edition will feature a remastered version of the original album alongside Webb’s remix, previously unreleased studio rehearsals and outtakes from 1985, and the band’s complete 1986 BBC Radio 1 Friday Rock Show session.
The collection will be available as a deluxe three-LP bookpack and two-CD set. A separate transparent violet vinyl edition will feature the remastered original album.
Originally released in 1986, Orgasmatron featured Lemmy Kilmister on bass and vocals, guitarists Phil Campbell and Würzel, and drummer Pete Gill. The album included songs such as “Deaf Forever,” “Doctor Rock,” “Built For Speed” and the title track.
The original record was produced by Bill Laswell, whose approach to the album’s sound reportedly left Lemmy and Campbell dissatisfied with aspects of the final mix.
Webb, who previously worked on six Motörhead studio albums, said he wanted to revisit the recordings without losing their original character.
“I love the fact that the original is wild and a little messy,” Webb explained. “I wanted to be respectful to what Jason Corsaro and Bill Laswell created, rather than simply trying to make it sound like a modern heavy metal record.”
He added, “The aim was never to replace the original, but to reveal more of what was inside it.”
The anniversary edition also includes alternate versions and rehearsals of several tracks, along with BBC performances of “Killed By Death,” “Orgasmatron,” “Doctor Rock” and “Deaf Forever.”
