Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath’s ‘Back to the Beginning’ film and soundtrack set for December release

The official concert film and soundtrack documenting Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath’s final performance, Back to the Beginning, will be released on December 11, 2026, through Mercury Studios.

The release follows the film’s worldwide theatrical debut on October 28 and will be available in several formats, including 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, CD, vinyl and digital. Pre-orders are available now, alongside a live recording and video of Ozzy Osbourne performing “Mr. Crowley” at the event.

Recorded on July 5, 2025, at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, Back to the Beginning marked Osbourne’s final live performance, just 17 days before his death. The concert also reunited the original Black Sabbath lineup of Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward for their final appearance together.

The event featured performances from Metallica, Slayer, Guns N’ Roses, Tool, Pantera, Gojira, Anthrax, Lamb of God, Alice in Chains, Mastodon, Halestorm and others, along with guest appearances from several musicians.

The three-and-a-half-hour concert film includes the complete Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath sets, plus performances of “Mr. Crowley” by Jack Black and “Changes” by Fred Durst. Additional features include behind-the-scenes footage, video tributes and the Sounds of Birmingham documentary.

A digital soundtrack featuring nine songs from Osbourne and Black Sabbath will also be released, with Dolby Atmos, HD and standard audio options.

A separate deluxe box set is scheduled for April 23, 2027. The collection will include three Blu-ray discs, two CDs, three vinyl LPs, a 72-page hardcover book, an Ozzy pendant necklace, a numbered certificate of authenticity and a film poster print.

The deluxe edition will also feature a bonus Blu-ray containing all 35 Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath songs and covers performed by special guests during the concert.

Speaking about the event, Sharon Osbourne said: “Ozzy suffered from chronic pain during the final six years of his life. His only wish was to perform one last time to thank his fans and say goodbye.”

The concert film was directed for the screen by Ben Wainwright-Pearce, with the live performance directed by Tim van Someren.
