Prong have released their new single “Fear The Sun,” the latest track from the band’s upcoming self-titled album.
The record, Prong, will mark the New York metal veterans’ debut for Napalm Records. “Fear The Sun” finds the band revisiting elements of the groove metal sound heard on their 1990 album Beg to Differ, according to frontman Tommy Victor.
“I think we went back into time on this song,” Victor said. “It’s a modernized version of the groove metal basics PRONG laid a foundation for back with Beg To Differ. Lyrically, ‘Fear The Sun’ reflects upon living with no seasonal changes, metaphorically.”
Prong was mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap and features 11 tracks, with the CD edition adding two bonus songs: “Out of Body” and a cover of Bananarama’s “Cruel Summer.”
The band will also head to Europe this November for their “Uprising Tour,” featuring shows in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and Greece.
