Russian Circles release new single and video “Seventh Seal”

Russian Circles have released their new single and video, “Seventh Seal,” the latest preview of their forthcoming album, Nine, due out August 28 via Sargent House (pre-order).

Following the previously released “Empath” and “Eluvial,” “Seventh Seal” serves as the closing track on Nine and pairs a melancholic nylon-string guitar passage with one of the album’s heaviest moments.

The track takes inspiration from Cliff Burton-era Metallica and the contrast between somber classical guitar passages and the heavier metallic attack found throughout that period of the band’s music.

Watch the official video for “Seventh Seal” below.

As previously reported, Nine was recorded with longtime collaborator Kurt Ballou at Electrical Audio in Chicago and GodCity Studio in Salem, Massachusetts. Ballou has worked with Russian Circles on every album since 2016’s Guidance.

Russian Circles will support Nine with an extensive North American headlining tour this fall. Pelican will join the first leg of the trek, while Primitive Man will provide support for the November dates.
