Mike Milford, vocalist of metalcore band Scars of Tomorrow, has died. The band announced his passing on social media today, August 8.
In their statement, the band remembered Milford as an “incredible frontman, artist manager, label exec, father, friend and so much more,” while thanking those who supported him and Scars of Tomorrow throughout the past two decades.
“If you ever had the privilege of meeting Mike, you know what an amazing person he was,” the band wrote. “We hope his legacy lives on through the memories he gave us and all the incredible heavy music he made.”
Scars of Tomorrow bassist Bob Bradley also shared a personal tribute to Milford, revealing that he had been battling cancer.
“Rest easy, Mike Milford. You were loved by so many and made a huge impact in the heavy music and hardcore scene during our touring days together and well after,” Bradley wrote. “Father, musician, music industry wizard and all around amazing guy, RIP and thanks for all the memories my friend.”
Beyond his work with Scars of Tomorrow, Milford remained active in the music industry, helping guide the careers of other artists through management and label work with The Artery Foundation, Artery Recordings and, more recently, Modern Empire.
Milford leaves behind a lasting connection to the metalcore and hardcore scenes, both through his work with Scars of Tomorrow and the many artists he worked with throughout his career.
Rest in peace, Mike.
