Dimmu Borgir returned to New York on August 7, bringing the “Grand Serpent Rising North America 2026” tour to Palladium Times Square.
The show marked Dimmu Borgir’s first North American headlining run since 2018, with Suffocation and Hulder joining the bill. Hypocrisy were originally scheduled to appear on the tour but were unable to participate due to visa issues.
Hulder opened the night with a set of atmospheric black metal, including “A Beacon From Darkened Skies,” before Suffocation brought their death metal attack to the stage with songs including “Pierced From Within,” “Catatonia,” “Funeral Inception,” “Thrones of Blood” and “Liege of Inveracity.”
Dimmu Borgir followed with a 13-song set that pulled from across their catalog while also introducing several newer songs. The band opened with the live debut of “Ulvgjeld & Blodsodel” and also performed the live debuts of “As Seen in the Unseen” and “Ascent,” both from their latest album, Grand Serpent Rising, which was released in May through Nuclear Blast Records.
The set also featured “Reptile,” performed live for the first time since 2009, alongside longtime favorites including “Mourning Palace,” “Stormblåst,” “The Serpentine Offering,” “Puritania,” “Gateways” and “Progenies of the Great Apocalypse.”
Dimmu Borgir’s current lineup features Shagrath on vocals, Silenoz and Damage on guitars, Victor on bass, Gerlioz on keyboards and Daray on drums.

Dimmu Borgir will continue their touring schedule later this year with Behemoth and Dark Funeral on the “In League With Satan” co-headlining European and UK tour in October, followed by an “Unholy Halloween” show at Oslo Spektrum on October 31 with Enslaved and Satyricon. See all dates here.
