Signs of the Swarm have released their take on Rob Zombie’s classic track “Dragula” as a new standalone single through Century Media Records.
The cover arrives as the Pittsburgh deathcore band celebrate the one-year anniversary of their sixth studio album, To Rid Myself of Truth. Signs of the Swarm have also released an accompanying music video featuring cameos from Bam Margera, Lorna Shore’s Will Ramos, The Last Ten Seconds of Life’s Tyler Beam, Dying Fetus drummer Trey Williams, August Burns Red drummer Matt Greiner and more.
Speaking about the decision to cover “Dragula,” drummer Bobby Crow said: “We’ve been trying to find the right song to cover and put a SOTS spin on for years. We tossed up so many ideas, from The Prodigy, to Slayer, to Static-X.”
Crow explained that the band frequently listened to Rob Zombie’s Hellbilly Deluxe during long drives on tour before the idea of reworking “Dragula” eventually took shape.
“We used to spin ‘Hellbilly Deluxe’ on repeat to keep us awake on long tour drives, and we love tracks like ‘Living Dead Girl,’ ‘Superbeast’ and ‘Spookshow Baby,’ but one day we just started mouthing out ideas for what a SOTS version of ‘Dragula’ would sound like. Immediately, we were like, ‘DAMN! This is The ONE!’”
The band worked on the cover with producer and engineer Josh Schroeder, who also produced To Rid Myself of Truth.
Vocalist David Simonich said the accompanying video originally began as an attempt to recreate Rob Zombie’s original “Dragula” clip before evolving into something of its own.
“This video kind of spiraled out of control in the best way possible,” Simonich said. “We originally wanted to do a one-to-one recreation of the original video, but we couldn’t find the right car.”
The concept eventually expanded to include a number of the band’s friends and fellow musicians, including Ramos, Beam, Williams and Greiner, along with 156/Silence’s Jack Murray and Galactic Empire’s Kevin Corkran. Margera and fellow professional skateboarder Dalton Dern also appear in the video.

Signs of the Swarm will return to the road this fall for a North American run featuring dates with Nekrogoblikon, Aborted, Party Cannon and The Last Ten Seconds of Life.
