Skid Row announce Justin Sargent as new singer, release “Won’t Get Fooled Again” cover

Skid Row have announced Justin Sargent as their new lead vocalist, ending a search that lasted more than two years. The New Jersey hard rock band also released a cover of The Who’s “Won’t Get Fooled Again” and confirmed their first tour dates with Sargent for 2027.

Sargent, who is also from New Jersey, was selected following a worldwide search that included an open audition process in partnership with Sweetwater. According to the band, he first caught their attention last year before spending several months rehearsing and working with the group.

“I think that the moment Justin walked in the door we all kind of knew he was the guy,” guitarist Dave “Snake” Sabo said. “Everything about him; his voice, his attitude, his demeanor, it all just fit.”

Sargent added: “I’ve been singing Skid Row songs for years, but never imagined I’d actually be joining the band! It’s an incredible honor to be part of something with such a legendary history.”

The announcement comes as Skid Row celebrate their 40th anniversary in 2026. Sargent takes over the position previously held by Erik Grönwall, who departed in 2024 due to health concerns.

To introduce their new lineup, Skid Row have recorded a cover of The Who’s “Won’t Get Fooled Again,” produced by Nick Raskulinecz, who previously worked with the band on their 2022 album The Gang’s All Here.

The song is accompanied by a music video directed by Dale “Rage” Resteghini. The track will be available on streaming platforms October 30, while a limited, signed 7-inch vinyl edition is available for pre-order, with only 500 copies being produced worldwide.

Skid Row will return to the stage March 5, 2027, in Rancho Mirage, California. Their upcoming schedule includes headlining shows and festival appearances at Welcome to Rockville and Sonic Temple, with additional dates expected to be announced.
