Slash discusses Guns N’ Roses’ Aerosmith tribute gigs + new album ‘Flying Blind’

Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash recently appeared on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk, where he discussed the band’s upcoming Aerosmith tribute performances at the Hollywood Bowl and offered an update on his next album with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, Flying Blind.

During the interview, Slash confirmed that Guns N’ Roses are expected to perform at both Hollywood Bowl shows, although details surrounding their sets were still being finalized.

“We’re doing both shows as far as I know,” Slash said. “And we have sort of like a, you know, a mini set list sort of picked out more or less for this, for each show. I’m really looking forward to it.”

Slash explained that his involvement initially began as a guest appearance before expanding into a full Guns N’ Roses performance.

“When I first heard about this was months ago, and at that point I was just going to get up there and jam with somebody,” he said. “But then eventually it became a Guns N’ Roses thing.”

Asked whether the band would perform Aerosmith material or songs from their own catalog, Slash confirmed that Aerosmith covers were planned, while the inclusion of Guns N’ Roses songs remained undecided.

“We’re definitely going to do some Aerosmith songs, and I would imagine we’ll probably, they’ll want us to do at least a couple of our own songs, but we haven’t really discussed that yet,” he explained.

Slash also hinted that one of his favorite Aerosmith songs could make the setlist, although he declined to reveal its title.

Elsewhere in the conversation, the guitarist discussed Flying Blind, his upcoming album with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, scheduled for release on February 26, 2027.

Slash said the album had already been completed and that he was pleased with the final master.

“I still have to wait till February to actually put it out. So, it’s a little bit of torture, but at least we started doing something,” he said. “And I listened to, they sent me the final master sequence yesterday and I listened to some of that, and it sounds really good. I’m stoked.”

Discussing the recording process, Slash revealed that most of the material was written during pre-production sessions with bassist Todd Kerns and drummer Brent Fitz.

“Almost all of this record was written in the moment,” he explained. “There’s only two songs that are what you call like old ideas that we never completed before that finally came to fruition on this record.”

The band later recorded the basic tracks live in a Florida studio before returning to complete vocals, overdubs and additional guitar parts. Sessions were scheduled around Slash’s touring commitments with Guns N’ Roses.
