Today, Sleep have released a new single titled “Have Spacesuit Will Travel” via Third Man Records, marking their first new music since 2018.
The band also announced a North American fall tour, which includes a headline appearance at Levitation Fest on September 13.
This release marks the first new Sleep material without guitarist Matt Pike. The current lineup features Al Cisneros alongside Dale Crover (Melvins, Redd Kross) on drums and Bubba Dupree (Void) on guitar.
Speaking on the new material, Cisneros said: “The vibe of the first jam was obvious. It was blue sunglasses-era Iommi in quality.”
Alongside the new single and tour, Sleep will also release a comic book via Third Man Books marking Al Cisneros’ authorial debut. Illustrated by Dave Kloc and Arik Roper, the 24-page release follows The Marijuanaut on a journey through Planet Iommia and is available for pre-order in standard and signed editions.
