The Smashing Pumpkins announce ‘The Aeroplane Flies High’ 30th anniversary reissue

The Smashing Pumpkins have announced a 30th anniversary vinyl reissue of their 1996 collection The Aeroplane Flies High, set for release December 18 via UMe.

The collection will be available as a standard five-LP set and a limited-edition color vinyl edition, marking its first vinyl release since 2013.

Originally released in 1996, The Aeroplane Flies High collects expanded editions of the five singles from Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness: “Bullet With Butterfly Wings,” “1979,” “Zero,” “Tonight, Tonight” and “Thirty-Three.” The set also features B-sides, rarities and covers of songs by The Cars, Blondie and The Cure.

The band have also reissued their 1994 B-sides collection Pisces Iscariot and 1998 album Adore on standard black vinyl. Additionally, a new collection titled Absolute Zeros features hits from the band’s Virgin Records years, including “1979,” “Today” and “Disarm.”

The reissue arrives as The Smashing Pumpkins continue their Rats In A Cage Tour, which kicked off September 30 in Columbus, Ohio. The shows feature two sets, including one celebrating the 30th anniversary of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and a second spanning the band’s catalog.
