UK alternative rock band unpeople have released a new single, “blueprints,” taken from their forthcoming debut album, we are unpeople.
The album is set to arrive October 9 through SharpTone Records and has previously been previewed with the tracks “friends,” “clouds,” “the garden” and “waste.”
Speaking about the meaning behind “blueprints,” vocalist and guitarist Jake Crawford explained that the song deals with supporting people whose behavior can negatively affect themselves and those around them.
“The subject matter of this song is not an easy one to get into, personally,” Crawford said. “It’s broadly about propping up people who have behaviours that are clearly not good for them or the people around them. People who only want what is best for them. Take from that what you will.”
Crawford added that guitarist Luke Caley wrote much of the song and had already developed its chorus before bringing it to the rest of the band.
“Luke wrote the lion’s share of the song and presented it to us with the chorus lyrics and melody already in place,” he continued. “I loved it so much we kept it almost exactly as it was and I just elaborated on the overall feeling of the tune with the verses.”
The new single arrives following unpeople’s appearances at Reading and Leeds Festivals. The band will next perform at Burn It Down Festival in Torquay on September 3 before heading out in support of Don Broco later this month.
Additional touring will see unpeople support Royal Blood across the UK in November and December. The band will then launch its biggest UK and Ireland headline tour to date in January 2027, culminating with a show at London’s Electric Ballroom on January 28. Several dates on the run are already sold out.
