Vulvodynia release new single "Twin Tyrants"

Vulvodynia drop new single “Twin Tyrants” feat. new vocalist Maya Pobst

South African slamming deathcore outfit Vulvodynia have released a new standalone single titled “Twin Tyrants” through Unique Leader Records.

The track marks the band’s first collaboration with new vocalist Maya Pobst and arrives alongside an accompanying music video.

Speaking about the song, Pobst said: “’Twin Tyrants’ is special to me, not only because it’s the first time I’ve gotten to collaborate on a track with my new bandmates in Vulvodynia, but also for its topic and themes. Ultimately, the track highlights the internal battle of finding a sense of self and determining who you’re meant to be.”

Pobst explained that she and her partner wrote the lyrics together before the rest of the band helped shape the finished track.

“The lyrics were written by my partner and I, switching between a words first and a vocal pattern first sort of approach,” she continued. “Everything else was laid into place through joint effort from everyone until we got the final track that we’re sharing with y’all now.”

She added, “I’m so excited for everyone to be able to listen to the new song and for this opportunity to continue making great music with a great group of people.”

“Twin Tyrants” follows Vulvodynia’s 2024 album Entabeni and begins a new chapter for the band with Pobst behind the microphone. The group says more news is expected to be revealed soon.

Vulvodynia’s current lineup consists of Pobst on vocals, Lwandile Prusent, Luke Haarhoff and Kris Xenopoulos on guitars, Thomas Hughes on drums and Nate Gilbert on bass.
