Slipknot have returned with “Arsenal,” their first new song in more than three years.
The new track arrives alongside an official music video directed by Slipknot percussionist M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan and starring actor Jackson White.
“Arsenal” finds the Iowa metal veterans delivering a characteristically aggressive mix of heavy riffs, electronics and Corey Taylor’s vocals, marking the band’s first new material in several years.
Among the track’s lyrics, Taylor declares, “I fought a fucking god and the god lost,” later taking a shot at chasing trends with the line, “I know I’m a hack and a has-been, but motherfucker I’m a .45 and not a Mach 10.”
The standalone release opens another chapter for Slipknot nearly three decades into their career. No additional details regarding further new music have been announced at the time of writing.
