Oliver Tree dead at 32 following helicopter crash in Brazil

Musician and entertainer Oliver Tree has died at the age of 32 following a helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, according to CNN Brasil and other reports. Authorities say six people were killed when two helicopters collided in midair on June 14th. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. CNN Brasil reports that the information was confirmed by the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police.

While Oliver Tree was widely known for blending pop, electronic, and alternative sounds, his music frequently incorporated elements of alternative rock and guitar-driven songwriting. Songs like “Alien Boy,” “Hurt,” and “Let Me Down” helped establish a style that crossed genre boundaries and earned him a devoted global fanbase.

Born Oliver Tree Nickell, the California artist built a reputation for his unconventional persona, viral music videos, and genre-defying approach to songwriting. Over the course of his career, he released multiple albums and collaborated with artists across the rock, electronic, and hip-hop worlds.

Details surrounding the incident and Tree’s movements prior to the crash remain unconfirmed.

Tree amassed millions of followers across social media and became one of the most recognizable alternative artists of his generation, thanks to his unique blend of music, comedy, and visual storytelling.

We extend our condolences to Oliver Tree’s family, friends, collaborators, and fans, as well as to all those affected by the helicopter crash, during this difficult time.
