Lords of Acid have released “Ich Will Nur Das,” the fourth single to emerge from the electronic outfit this year and another preview of their upcoming album, Mundo Bizarro.
The track features Metropolis Records labelmate Mari Kattman on vocals, singing entirely in German despite not speaking the language herself. According to Lords of Acid founder Praga Khan, that was part of what made her right for the song.
“She was perfect for this song, as it is incredibly charming to hear her American voice attack these German lyrics,” Khan says. “We didn’t want her pronunciation to be too polished or perfect, as her accent gives the track extra personality.”
As for the song itself, Khan describes “Ich Will Nur Das” as “basically a love song with a serious identity crisis.”
“The verses are pure lust: hot, dirty, aggressive and completely unapologetic,” he explains. “Then the chorus suddenly turns into the romantic fantasy of a lovestruck teenager dreaming about eternal love.”
Khan says Kattman understood that push and pull, adding, “One minute she sounds like she wants to devour you, the next she’s dreaming about everlasting love. It’s filthy and innocent at the same time, which is pretty much Lords of Acid in a nutshell.”
“Ich Will Nur Das” follows this year’s “Karaoke Superstar” featuring Princess Superstar, “Dream Boy” featuring Carla Harvey and “El Mundo Está Loco” featuring Tony & The Kiki. All four tracks will appear on Mundo Bizarro.
The new album hits streaming services October 15 through Metropolis Records, the same day Lords of Acid launch the second leg of their “Cheeky Freaky” U.S. tour. Physical editions and digital downloads follow on November 6.
The tour gets underway in the tri-state area with an October 15 show at District Music Hall in Norwalk, Connecticut. Lords of Acid will also hit Photo City Music Hall in Rochester, New York on October 17 before continuing across the country.
