German power metal veterans Blind Guardian recently descended upon North America for ‘The God Machine’ tour, hitting over twenty markets with support from California heavy metal trio Night Demon. The tour, in support of Blind Guardian’s latest album on Nuclear Blast Records, ‘The God Machine,’ made a stop in New York City at the Palladium Times Square on May 12th.
During their stay in the Big Apple, Blind Guardian performed 15 songs, including fresh hits from their latest record like “Blood of the Elves,” “Violent Shadows,” and “Secrets of the American Gods,” finally presenting some of their new songs to their stateside fans. The metal greats also played classics such as “Imaginations From the Other Side,” “Nightfall,” “Majesty,” “Lost in the Twilight Hall,” and “The Bard’s Song – In the Forest.” During the latter, diehard NYC fans sang along to almost the entire song. The band ended their set with a special four-song encore featuring heavy-hitting tunes “Sacred Worlds,” “Time Stands Still (At the Iron Hill),” “Valhalla,” and “Mirror Mirror.”
Night Demon got the party started with a ten-song set of their own, performing songs from their latest album, ‘Outsider,’ including the title track, as well as “Escape From Beyond,” “Beyond the Grave,” and “The Wrath.” The West Coast rippers also included a few tracks from their albums ‘Curse of the Damned’ and ‘Darkness Remains,’ as well as their first self-titled EP, for good measure.
