Blood Mother, the post-black metal project led by former The Lion’s Daughter frontman Rick Giordano, has teamed up with industrial electronic outfit Anthroponeural for a new two-track collaboration.
The release features “The New Flesh” and “The Night Fires,” combining elements of extreme metal, industrial techno and horror-inspired electronic music.
“The New Flesh” takes a heavier, more mechanical approach, built around pounding electronic rhythms, distorted textures and aggressive vocals. Meanwhile, “The Night Fires” leans further into atmospheric and cinematic territory, incorporating dark melodies and electronic arrangements.
The collaboration brings together Blood Mother’s black metal influences and Anthroponeural’s industrial sound, with both tracks exploring the overlap between heavy music and dark electronic production.
Blood Mother is the latest project from Giordano, who previously fronted The Lion’s Daughter. The project combines post-black metal, atmospheric synthesizers and elements of Western Americana, drawing on themes of isolation, paranoia and violence.
Giordano recently released Blood Mother’s self-titled debut album, featuring longtime The Lion’s Daughter drummer Erik Ramsier. The six-track record was mixed by Ryan Wasoba and mastered by Joel Hatstat, with artwork by The Salamander King.
Discussing his decision to move forward with Blood Mother, Giordano previously explained, “After 18 years of releasing music and touring the world, the daughter had to die so that the mother could live.”
Anthroponeural, meanwhile, focuses on dark electronic music influenced by hard industrial techno, extreme metal and horror soundtracks.
The artwork for the new collaboration was created by Berkay Kayha.
