Butcher Babies tease new song “Leaving California”

Butcher Babies have begun teasing their new song “Leaving California,” set for release on August 28.

The track will appear on the band’s forthcoming album, Nightbloom, which arrives October 2 via Judge & Jury Records (pre-save). Butcher Babies previously offered a taste of the record with their new single and video “Blame It on the Wind.”

The band shared a teaser for “Leaving California” on social media ahead of its release this Friday.

Nightbloom was produced by Howard Benson, with Joe Rickard, Neil Sanderson and Henry Flury serving as co-producers. Cameron Pierce Mizell and Evan McKeever provided additional production on “Songbird.”

Vocalist Heidi Shepherd previously explained that much of the album grew out of personal experiences she began confronting through therapy, with its songs touching on heartbreak, loss, betrayal and other difficult moments from her past.

“This new album isn’t about the suffering, it’s about the survival,” Shepherd said.

She added: “These songs were born from memories of heartbreak, uncertainty, betrayal, and pain. But they’re not just about those subjects, they’re more about what grew because of them.”

Butcher Babies will support Nightbloom with extensive touring throughout the summer and fall, including upcoming shows with Chad Gray of Mudvayne and Hellyeah. The band are also scheduled to perform at Louder Than Life in Louisville, KY on September 18.

The group recently expanded their touring schedule with additional shows. Check out Butcher Babies’ complete list of upcoming dates below.
