Clutch have announced their 14th studio album, Wasted Lands, set for release January 22, 2027 via the band’s own Weathermaker Music.
The Maryland rockers have also shared the album’s title track, “Wasted Lands,” along with an accompanying music video.
Wasted Lands was written and recorded at Clutch’s Doom Saloon studio in Frederick, Maryland, and reunites the band with producer Machine for the first time since 2015’s Psychic Warfare.
Frontman Neil Fallon explained that the title track was inspired by someone online who apparently believed they had been scammed by him.
“The inspiration for the lyrics in Wasted Lands came about when it was brought to my attention that someone had been dragging my name on FaceBook (weird, right?),” Fallon said. “Apparently, I had reneged on a free t-shirt and dinner. I think it was a prize in a pay to play contest. Not to overstate the obvious, but it was a load of horse hockey.”
He continued, “Many people tried to explain to this person that it was not me and that they had been hustled. But they simply would not believe it. So I thought, screw it, no half-measures. You want a monster? Let’s give you one.”
Clutch said the album was created with an emphasis on writing songs that would translate to the stage while still leaving room for experimentation.
“Wasted Lands came from one clear intention: write a great rock record that will make fans go nuts when they hear these songs live, while leaving enough space in the creative process to follow the unexpected turns that keep Clutch exciting to us and our fans after thirty-five years together,” the band said.
The 12-track album also includes “The Drifter Returns,” “Stage Fright,” “Chestburster,” “Beware The Fever,” “Colorado Fuel and Iron” and “The Message Is Clear.”

Clutch will also head out on a U.S. tour with Slomosa and Blood Vulture beginning October 16 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The band will then head to Australia in January 2027 for a run of shows with Corrosion of Conformity.
