Currents announce new album ‘Our Fates Lie in Tandem,’ release “Retributioner” video

Connecticut metalcore band Currents have announced their fourth studio album, Our Fates Lie in Tandem, set for release on February 12, 2027, through Rise Records. The record marks the band’s debut with the label and follows their 2023 album, The Death We Seek.

Alongside the announcement, Currents have shared a new single, “Retributioner,” accompanied by a music video directed by Chris Klumpp and Errick Easterday.

The band explained that the song addresses the pressure to abandon personal values in pursuit of success.

“‘Retributioner’ seeks to dismantle those ideas, even if it means dismantling the structures and systems perpetuating them,” the group stated.

Vocalist Brian Wille described the upcoming 11-track album as the band’s most personal work to date, incorporating themes of heartbreak and social commentary while exploring a broader range of musical dynamics.

“I brought the wall down, so I could be more personal than ever before,” Wille said. “Our Fates Lie in Tandem is not heavy for the sake of being heavy either.”

The album was produced by guitarist Chris Wiseman, with additional production from Ricky Armellino and mixing by Jon Dolese (Chelsea Grin, Cane Hill). Artwork was created by Adam Burke.

Currents will also begin a co-headlining European and UK tour with Erra on November 2 in Utrecht, Netherlands. Caskets and Aviana will provide support throughout the 17-date run, which concludes November 23 in Munich, Germany.

Our Fates Lie in Tandem is available for pre-order.
