Former VCTMS touring bassist Davion Michael Cuttler speaks out, backs abuse allegations

Former VCTMS touring bassist and Hollow Front member Davion Michael Cuttler has spoken out about his experiences working with the band, supporting allegations of mistreatment recently made by departing guitarist Mike Joseph Clampitt.

In a lengthy statement shared on social media, Cuttler accused VCTMS member Meredith Henderson of verbal abuse, physical aggression and failing to pay touring personnel on time. He said his experiences were among the reasons he decided to step away from touring earlier this year.

Cuttler clarified that although he performed with VCTMS and participated in meet-and-greets and other band activities, he was never an official member. Instead, he worked as a hired touring bassist and technician, operating the band’s playback and monitoring equipment for more than two years.

“I was never a member of the band. I had no power in any decision-making or any sway in how the band operated,” he explained.

Addressing Clampitt’s earlier statement, Cuttler claimed to have witnessed similar behavior from Henderson, including incidents directed at him personally.

“I, too, witnessed her do all the same things Mike listed in his post. Many of which, towards me,” he wrote.

Cuttler alleged that he experienced repeated yelling, insults and verbal mistreatment while working with VCTMS. He also described an incident in which he claimed Henderson threw van keys toward his face, causing an injury to his hand when he attempted to block them.

According to Cuttler, the alleged incident occurred at a venue in front of other touring personnel and staff. He claimed Henderson apologized by text the following day after others encouraged her to address the situation.

Cuttler also raised concerns about payments to touring crew members, alleging that delays sometimes left him struggling to afford food and other basic necessities while on the road.

“I found it difficult many times to get basic necessities or even feed myself on tour, due to Meredith’s negligence and lack of care in paying crew members on time,” he alleged.

He further claimed that attempts to address payment issues were sometimes met with hostility or ignored for days.

Explaining why he remained with the band despite these experiences, Cuttler said he hoped the touring opportunity would eventually lead to other work. He also expressed concern about possible retaliation, alleging that Henderson had spoken negatively about former crew members after their departures.

“After 2 years, I just couldn’t deal with it anymore,” he wrote. “My experience with Meredith has effectively ruined my outlook on touring.”

Cuttler concluded by expressing support for Clampitt, whose departure brought the allegations into public view.

“I’m so proud of Mike for saying what I felt I could not.”

He also urged people to avoid directing hateful or sexist remarks toward those involved, emphasizing that the statements were intended to encourage accountability rather than harassment.

Cuttler’s comments follow Clampitt’s recent departure from VCTMS after five years with the group. Clampitt previously accused Henderson of mistreating bandmates and crew members and acknowledged his own failure to intervene.

Following those allegations, Henderson said she was taking time to reflect before issuing a more detailed response. Fellow VCTMS member John Matalone subsequently acknowledged witnessing difficult behavior and apologized for shortcomings in how he handled conflicts within the band.

Matalone also stated that he did not personally feel abused by Henderson and intended to remain with VCTMS while the band fulfilled its existing commitments.

The allegations made by Cuttler and Clampitt have not been independently verified. Henderson has not issued a detailed public response addressing the specific claims outlined in their statements.
