German heavy metal masters Helloween recently raided New York City for an iconic show at Hell’s Kitchen’s Terminal 5. The gig, as part of the band’s ongoing ‘United Forces’ world tour, featured stellar support from Swedish powerhouse HammerFall.
The massive performance saw Helloween dish out a hefty 16-song set-list, jam-packed with big hits and two encores. The band played massive numbers like “Eagle Fly Free,” “Future World,” “Power,” “Dr. Stein,” “Perfect Gentleman,” and “Keeper of the Seven Keys” during their much anticipated stay in the Big Apple.
Track’s off the band’s latest full-length offering ‘Helloween’ made it into the band’s 90-minute set, with the German metal legends kicking off their show with “Skyfall.” The crowed exploded into a roar, especially when all three vocalists: Kai Hansen, Michael Kiske, and Andi Deris stormed the stage. Helloween would eventually continue with fresh rippers “Mass Pollution” and “Best Time.”
Prior to the band’s closing song “I Want Out,” Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy) and Pat Gesualdo (Iceland) took to the stage to officially induct Helloween into the Metal Hall of Fame. Gesualdo, who is also the founder and CEO of the Metal Hall of Fame, noted in an official statement, “Power metal is such an important part of the heavy metal community as well. We are proud to induct HELLOWEEN into the Metal Hall Of Fame and have them to help represent the power metal genre and all its fans throughout the world.”
Helloween founding guitarist Michael Weikath commented, “It’s truly an honor to be inducted into the Metal Hall Of Fame! Being listed next to some of the biggest bands in rock and metal makes us very proud and is rewarding our work as ‘The Ambassadors Of Power And Melodic Metal’ for the last four decades.”
Earlier in the evening, HammerFall got the crowd moving with a dominating 12-song set, consisting of powerful tunes like “Any Means Necessary,” “Blood Bound,” “Let the Hammer Fall” and “Hearts on Fire.”
Next up for Helloween, the gang will hit the European festival circuit for shows in Spain, Greece, Hungary, Finland and more. Get more info here.
