Just one day after releasing the official music video for “False Light,” Swedish metalcore outfit Imminence have announced their sixth studio album, Axis Mundi, due out October 2 via Sumerian Records (pre-order).
As we covered yesterday, the band debuted the cinematic video for “False Light,” directed by Pavel Trebukhin. Today, Imminence have followed it up with another new track, “Crestfallen,” giving fans a broader look at the upcoming album.
While “False Light” leans into the band’s heaviest side with crushing riffs, harsh vocals, and explosive intensity, “Crestfallen” takes a more atmospheric approach, blending orchestral arrangements, electronic textures, and Eddie Berg’s soaring clean vocals with the band’s signature violin-driven sound.
The new songs follow the previously released single “The Sword That Never Bends,” and continue introducing the themes behind Axis Mundi, which explores suffering, redemption, and the search for light through a cinematic and mythological narrative.
Speaking on the two songs, guitarist Harald Barrett said: “Duality has always been at the heart of Imminence. Our musical expression is a conversation between darkness and light, violence and beauty, despair and hope. ‘False Light’ and ‘Crestfallen’ embody those opposing forces more clearly than anything we’ve released before. They’re radically different in sound and emotion, but together they tell a single story.”
Produced by the band alongside engineer Henrik Udd and producer Drew Fulk, Axis Mundi follows 2024’s The Black and arrives ahead of Imminence’s previously announced North American headline tour with Dying Wish and Gaerea later this year.
