Lacuna Coil live at Gramercy Theatre (photos)

Italian alt/gothic metal favorites Lacuna Coil are currently in New York City for back-to-back sold-out concerts at Gramercy Theatre, gigs they call ‘The 119 Show’ and featuring an ‘evening with’ the band. Amid scattered thunderstorms and performing onstage in a carnival-style tent built with heavy truss and littered with moving lights, the band played their first show last night (July 22nd), aptly kicking off their display with “A Current Obsession” and “1.19” off the band’s second studio album, Unleashed Memories.

The extensive set featured songs from Lacuna Coil‘s comprehensive discography with huge hits like “Heaven’s a Lie” off Comalies, “Closer” off Karmacode, “The House of Shame” off Delirium, “My Wings” off In a Reverie, “One Cold Day” off Broken Crown Halo, and many more big songs resonating through NYC. The evening also featured an acoustic rendition of “Falling” (Lacuna Coil EP), “Wide Awake” (Shallow Life) and “Our Truth” (Karmacode) with Cristina Scabbia on vocals and PA singer-songwriter Melissa VanFleet on piano. The band ended their set with their cover of the Depeche Mode classic “Enjoy The Silence” and their 2014 track “Nothing Stands in Our Way.”

Lacuna Coil return to Gramercy Theatre tonight for their second sold out concert. As noted, the band return to NYC at Webster Hall on September 15 as part of their co-headline run with All That Remains.

Lacuna Coil are touring in support of their impending new LP, Black Anima.
