Plini, Night Verses and Portraits bring ‘An Unnameable Desire’ tour to NYC (photos)

Australian guitarist Plini brought his ‘An Unnameable Desire’ North American tour to New York City’s Irving Plaza on October 18, 2026, joined by instrumental rock outfit Night Verses and fellow progressive act Portraits.

The tour follows the April release of Plini’s latest album, An Unnameable Desire, which features contributions from Simon Grove, Chris Allison, Dave McKay and several guest musicians. The record marks his third full-length studio effort, following 2016’s Handmade Cities and 2020’s Impulse Voices.

Plini’s 13-song NYC set featured several selections from the new album, including “An Unnameable Desire,” “Ciel,” “Paper Moon,” “After Everything” and “Vespertine.” The guitarist also revisited earlier material with performances of “Cascade,” “Impulse Voices,” “I’ll Tell You Someday,” “Selenium Forest” and “Electric Sunrise,” which closed the evening.

Direct support came from Night Verses, who delivered a seven-song set featuring “Arrival,” “Vice Wave,” “8 Gates of Pleasure,” “Åska,” “Rose Wire,” “Karma Wheel” and “No. 0.”

Portraits opened the show with six songs, including “Stereoscope,” “Glitch,” “Tranquil,” “Red Bourbon,” “Language & Thought” and “Psyche & Matter.”

The Irving Plaza performance was one of several East Coast stops on the tour, which continues through North America before wrapping up November 8 at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles.

NextMosh photographer Rodrigo Fredes was on hand to capture all three bands. Check out his photo galleries from the evening below.
