Maryland metalcore band Omen//Skye have released their new single and lyric video, “Vanquish,” via Arson Theory.
The track appears on the band’s latest EP, The Thoughts That Haunt Us, and tackles addiction, depression and suicidal thoughts from the perspective of choosing to keep fighting through them.
“Vanquish” was largely composed by former guitarist Brian Baugus, with Josh Grzywacz writing the chorus lyrics. Vocalist Nick Troisi penned the verses and developed the song’s overall concept based on his own experiences with addiction.
Troisi commented: “I was down and out, I thought that this was the end. But I picked myself up and started fighting again. It’s a conscious choice between life and death, and when it comes for you… DON’T. GIVE. IN.”
The track was produced by Drew Licurgo and Six:Eight Audio and combines the band’s metalcore sound with melodic elements and a cinematic atmosphere.

Omen//Skye have previously shared stages with acts including If Not For Me, Tallah, Resistor, Yosemite In Black, Waking the Cadaver, The Wise Man’s Fear and Softspoken.
The band will next perform on September 13 at Metro Gallery in Baltimore, Maryland, supporting ENOX.
Omen//Skye currently consists of Nick Troisi on lead vocals, Joshua Grzywacz on vocals and rhythm guitar, Dillon Thatcher on drums, Dominic Buie on bass and newly introduced lead guitarist Kenny Baquol.
