Australian alternative pop-rock artist RinRin has released a new single, “It’s Christmas Time,” accompanied by an official music video through Fearless Records.
The track offers a darker take on the holiday season, questioning the traditional image of Santa Claus and the inequalities surrounding Christmas gift-giving.
“We’re told Santa gives presents to all the kids? Well what about poor kids, homeless kids, orphans?” RinRin explained. “They won’t get that same treatment. This song is about the rage felt by these kids who have their hopes broken by the injustice of Santa.”
Musically, “It’s Christmas Time” combines heavy guitar riffs and breakdowns with electronic elements, melodic vocals and traditional holiday sounds, including sleigh bells.
The release follows RinRin’s recent signing with Fearless Records and her label debut single, “fever dream,” which was accompanied by a music video combining animation and live-action footage.
