Sleep announce first new album in nearly eight years, share “The Morrisist”

Sleep have announced their first new album in nearly eight years. Titled Hempispheres, the record will be released digitally on September 3, with physical editions arriving October 30 via Third Man Records.

Alongside the announcement, the band has debuted the album’s new single, “The Morrisist,” which is streaming now.

According to Sleep, Hempispheres marks a new chapter for the band following recent lineup changes.

“With significant new blood in the lineup, Hempispheres finds its own footing — distinctly in the spirit of Sleep’s decades-long legacy, but sharper and more agile.”

The new album follows 2018’s The Sciences and arrives shortly after Sleep returned with the standalone single “Have Spacesuit Will Travel,” their first new song since 2018.

The current lineup features Al Cisneros alongside Dale Crover (Melvins, Redd Kross) on drums and Bubba Dupree (Void) on guitar.

Hempispheres will be available digitally on September 3, with physical pre-orders opening the same day ahead of the October 30 release.
