Pennsylvania metalcore outfit What Lies Below have signed with Solid State Records and released a music video for their new single, “Return to Nothing,” marking their first release through the label.
The Harrisburg-based band, consisting of vocalists Andrew Watson and Mike Watson, guitarist Sam Hart and drummer Jonah Luteman, blend heavy riffs, atmospheric elements and synthesizers in their latest offering.
According to the band, “Return to Nothing” serves as a thematic continuation of their recently released album, I Let It Consume Me, exploring the process of moving beyond grief and personal struggles.
“‘Return to Nothing’ is written from the perspective of escaping the dark of I Let It Consume Me,” the band explained. “The lyrics explore the struggle to escape a life weighed down by grief, isolation, and the burdens of the past. They follow a journey from darkness and despair toward awakening, with cracks in the darkness revealing glimpses of hope and a way forward.”
Alongside the signing and single release, What Lies Below have announced a November tour with Midwinter.
The 13-date trek begins November 5 in Rochester, New York, and includes stops in Montreal, Toronto, Columbus, St. Louis and several other cities before wrapping up November 21 in Lakewood, Ohio.
