Yanomamö share their playlist (Mastodon, Neurosis, Earth)

On August 27th, 2021, Australian metallers Yanomamö released a split effort with Northern Irish act Slomatics via Iommium Records, featuring two tracks: “Dig 2 Graves” and “Griefhound,” which, if you haven’t already, you can check out here.

Today (and continuing with our new column), Yanomamö have kindly curated and shared with us a Spotify playlist consisting of tunes from Mastodon, Electric Wizard, Neurosis, Earth, Ween, Ol’ Dirty Bastard and more. The tracks are streamable here and below.

Guitarist Jason Higson comments, “This playlist is made up of songs from a wide variety of genres … my mood is constantly changing & as such, so do my musical predilections. I love listening to music through headphones to go to sleep & Steve Von Till’s solo stuff is perfect for that. I also find heavier stuff like Earth & Sunn O))) super relaxing. The heavier, more aggressive stuff is great for when I’m training & lifting weights, though I’ll go back to more chilled stuff when I’m cooling down.

He adds, “I find that hip-hop is a great way to disconnect from thinking about writing music for Yanomamo. I sometimes find that it inspires me & refreshes me to write music for Yanomamo, especially the more aggressive hip-hop. It was really hard to pick just 9 tracks (plus a Yanomamo track), but i think this list a good representation of the chaos inside my head.
