GWAR have launched a fundraiser to support founding member Chuck Varga, who is currently battling cancer.
Varga, who portrayed The Sexecutioner from 1985 through 2022, is facing mounting medical expenses related to cancer treatment, hospice care, specialized equipment, and nursing support. According to the band, the fundraiser will also help his wife, Bambi, cover living expenses after stepping away from work to care for him full-time.
As part of the campaign, fans can purchase exclusive merchandise created specifically for the fundraiser, including a new T-shirt featuring artwork by Varga. Supporters can also bid on The Sexecutioner’s Axe, the iconic prop used by Varga throughout his decades with GWAR, with proceeds going directly toward Chuck and Bambi.
In a statement, GWAR’s Bob Gorman (Bonesnapper) said, “Chuck Varga’s contributions to GWAR and the Slave Pit collective are enormous,” adding that the fundraiser is intended to support Chuck and Bambi while celebrating Varga’s lasting impact on the band’s legacy and the heavy music community.
Fans can contribute to the fundraiser and learn more through the official campaign.
