L7 share new single ‘Loma Linda’ ahead of final world tour

L7 have released a new single titled “Loma Linda” ahead of the launch of their final world tour, The Last Hurrah Tour.

The first leg of the trek kicks off October 6 in San Diego and runs through November 14 in Los Angeles, with Vial and NOBRO providing support on select dates.

The tour follows the death of longtime bassist Jennifer Finch earlier this year. According to the band, Finch gave L7 her blessing to continue with the planned tour and welcome back former bassist Janis Tanaka, who previously played with the group from 1999 to 2001.

“Loma Linda” was pulled from the band’s archives after originally being recorded as an unfinished demo in 2003 while Tanaka was in the lineup. L7 recently completed the track with new vocals, lyrics and additional recordings.

“This new single marks the return of Janis Tanaka being back in L7 on bass after the sadness of losing Jennifer Finch a couple of months ago,” Donita Sparks said.

“I was searching the band’s archives and came across this unfinished track from when Janis was in the band. It still sounded rather fresh and very L7 so we recorded new vocals with new lyrics and some other additional tracks and cranked it out in a couple of days ahead of this upcoming tour.”

She added, “Gotta warn ya, we dig it and hope you do too.”

As an expression of gratitude to Finch, Tanaka and their fans, L7 are offering “Loma Linda” as a free download through their website for its first week of release. The track will subsequently become available across streaming platforms.

The Last Hurrah Tour includes an October 24 show at Knockdown Center in New York City.
