The world famous New York Comic Con, dedicated to comics, graphic novels, anime, manga, video games, toys and much more, returned for an in-person event following the terrible year that was 2020 due to the pandemic. NYCC 2021 took place from October 7th to the 10th at its usual spot, the ginormous Jacob K. Javits Convention Center located on 11th Ave. between 34th St. and 38th St. in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan.
For obvious reasons, this year’s gathering was forced to limit venue capacity from previous years, and a new verification requirement was set in place requiring proof of full Covid-19 vaccination for everyone ages 12 and up. Attendees were also required to wear face coverings at all times during their trip to NYCC. Organizers implemented new guidelines and policies to help support a safe experience, and additional sanitation and cleaning stations were made available around the show floor.
Security, health and safety precautions aside, fans came out in droves for the 15th annual get-together, which featured guest appearances from superstars like William Shatner, John Cena and Hayden Christensen, along with comic greats like Chris Claremont, Greg Capullo and Jae Lee, plus much more. As per usual, cosplayers were the highlight of the convention, with tons of patrons dressed up as their favorite super heroes, TV and movie characters, and more.
