The New York Comic Con, known far and wide, returned once again to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in NYC for its 17th annual gathering, celebrating the diverse realms of comics, anime, video games, toys, movies, and more.
Produced by ReedPop and spanning four days, NYCC 2023 attracted a considerable crowd of pop culture devotees, with an estimated attendance that appeared to exceed last year’s robust turnout, which surpassed 200,000 attendees. We wandered through the main show floor, taking in all the sights and sounds offered by the event. Cruising through the bustling marketplace, we encountered vendor booths offering an assortment of merchandise, including some items exclusively available at the convention, all dedicated to the world of nerdy interests.
The convention featured special panels, screenings, and parties, which provided attendees with a rare chance to meet celebrities and mingle with fellow comic book enthusiasts. Among the listed attendees were Ewan McGregor from ‘Star Wars,’ Chris Evans from ‘The Avengers,’ Tim Curry from ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show,’ and Norman Reedus from ‘The Walking Dead.’
We strolled through the ‘Artist Alley,’ an area that allowed convention-goers with an intimate opportunity to interact with the creative minds behind their favorite comics and graphic novels. This experience was, as anticipated, notable for fans collecting autographs, sketches, and photographs with their favorite artists.
As usual, cosplay played a big role at NYCC 2023, with fans filling all corners of the venue dressed as their favorite comic book characters. During our visit, we saw numerous great costumes. See below for a glimpse of some of them.
New York Comic Con is set to return to the Javits Center from October 17 to 20, 2024. Sign up to their newsletter to get the most recent updates.
