Repentance have released a video for their new single “Fade Into Silence,” dedicating the song to the band’s late founder and guitarist Shaun Glass.
Glass, who wrote the track, died unexpectedly on July 1, 2026. Following his death, Repentance postponed the release of their third studio album, Retaliate, which is now set to arrive November 27 via Noble Demon.
Vocalist Adam Gilley explained why the band chose “Fade Into Silence” as the album’s next single:
“We decided that ‘Fade Into Silence’ would be the next single from the record because we wanted to dedicate this release to Shaun Glass. Of all the songs on the record, ‘Fade Into Silence’ just felt like the perfect song to honor him — especially because it was a song that Shaun himself wrote.”
Gilley added that Glass’ death “left a major hole in our hearts and in this band,” describing him as a brother as well as the person who created Repentance and helped shape its identity.
“This song now carries a meaning we never expected it to have,” he continued. “Every note is a reminder of Shaun, his creativity, his passion, and everything he gave to this band. We’re proud to dedicate ‘Fade Into Silence’ to our brother and friend, Shaun Glass. His music, his influence, and his memory will always be a part of us. Rest easy, Shaun. This one is for you.”
Glass spent decades in the Chicago metal scene and was a member of bands including Terminal Death, Sindrome, Broken Hope, SOiL, Dirge Within and The Bloodline before founding Repentance in 2018.
Retaliate was produced by Alex Lackner at Accelerated Sound and mixed by Ari Mihalopoulos at Inner Light Studio. The album follows Repentance’s 2023 full-length, The Process of Human Demise.
