Sid Wilson has made his first social media post since reports surfaced claiming he was no longer a member of Slipknot.
Rather than addressing the ongoing speculation, the longtime DJ shared a short promotional video directing fans to his revamped independent merchandise store, sidthe3rdshop.com. The post does not mention Slipknot or the reports surrounding his status with the band.
Wilson’s social media return comes after TMZ reported on Friday that he had been permanently removed from Slipknot, citing a source with direct knowledge of the situation. Neither the band nor Wilson has publicly confirmed or denied the report.
In the days since, Slipknot guitarist Jim Root appeared to urge fans not to jump to conclusions, writing on Instagram Stories:
“Don’t believe every thing you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile. Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information.”
Shortly afterward, Stacy Thomson, wife of guitarist Mick Thomson, also shared a tongue-in-cheek quote from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off that many fans interpreted as a lighthearted jab at online speculation and secondhand rumors.
She posted: “My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with a girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it’s pretty serious.”
Her follow-up post read: “Questions about my reference? Don’t believe everything you read on the internet, kids! (And yes Ferris buellers day off is a great movie).”
As of this writing, Wilson’s latest post offers no indication of whether the reports regarding his reported departure are accurate, leaving fans still waiting for an official statement from either Wilson or Slipknot.
