Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has announced a three-city book tour in support of his new memoir, In My Darkest Hour, which arrives September 8 through Da Capo.
Co-written with Joe Layden, In My Darkest Hour chronicles Mustaine’s battle with cancer and the period surrounding his diagnosis and treatment. The book details how he went from radiation and chemotherapy appointments to recording sessions for Megadeth’s 2022 album, The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!, while also reflecting on his family, faith and career.
Mustaine’s book tour will launch on publication day with an event presented by The Strand Bookstore at Kaufman Music Center in New York City. Rolling Stone’s Kory Grow will moderate the conversation, which will also include questions from fans. Tickets include a signed copy of the memoir.
The tour continues with stops in Boston and Manassas, Virginia on September 9 and 10, respectively. The latter two events are described as photo opportunities and coincide with Megadeth’s current run supporting Iron Maiden on the “Run For Your Lives World Tour 2026.”

The memoir arrives as Megadeth continue their multi-year farewell tour. The band’s self-titled final studio album recently debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, marking Megadeth’s first chart-topper on the tally.
