Slipknot confirm Sid Wilson’s departure in deleted social media post

Slipknot have apparently confirmed Sid Wilson’s departure from the band in a social media post that was deleted shortly after being shared.

The band posted a brief statement to social media today, August 14, stating:

Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson.

We wish him the best in his future endeavors.

The statement was removed shortly after it appeared, but screenshots of the post have since circulated online.

The post comes roughly two weeks after TMZ first reported that Wilson had been permanently removed from Slipknot after nearly 28 years with the band. TMZ later reported that the decision allegedly followed frustrations over Wilson’s behavior toward his bandmates. Neither Wilson nor Slipknot had publicly confirmed those reports until today.

The apparent confirmation also comes just days after Wilson appeared at the World Scratch Invitational, where he introduced himself to the crowd as “Sid, DJ Starscream/#0, from the world famous Slipknot.”

As of now, no reason has been given by Slipknot for Wilson’s departure, and Wilson has not publicly responded to the band’s statement.

We previously covered the reports surrounding Wilson’s status, Jim Root’s message urging fans not to believe everything they read, and social media posts from Stacy Thomson and Kelly Osbourne amid the ongoing speculation.

More to come as the situation develops.

UPDATE: Slipknot’s official Knotfest account has since confirmed the statement:
