Darkest Hour finish new album, confirm new music is coming this year

Darkest Hour have officially completed work on their 11th studio album, confirming that new music will arrive later this year.

The band revealed on social media that the record has been “officially mixed, mastered, and delivered,” thanking producer Mark Lewis (Whitechapel, Trivium, The Black Dahlia Murder), their label MNRK Heavy, the artist behind the album artwork, and their Patreon supporters for helping bring the project to completion.

Earlier this year, guitarist Mike Schleibaum described the album as “so thrashy and aggressive, while still maintaining that core melody we are so known for,” adding that it feels like “the best combination of all the Darkest Hour albums into one.”

Vocalist John Henry also shared his thoughts on the record when it was first announced, saying: “It may seem that after 30+ years and 10 albums, it could be hard to find the inspiration to create something fresh and new feeling, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth with this album… This is the sound of five friends getting together and collaboratively creating, and maybe most importantly, having fun while we do it.”

The new record will serve as the follow-up to 2024’s Perpetual | Terminal. While no release date or album title has been announced, the band confirmed fans can expect new music before the end of the year.
