Danish Nordic doom outfit Maunah have unveiled “Heimaland” (“Homeland”), the first single and music video from their upcoming debut album, Hjarta (“Heart”), due out September 18 via Prophecy Productions.
The track arrives with a video created by Luiz Arruda (Audiopower) and serves as the first glimpse into the band’s debut full-length release.
“To us, ‘Heimaland’ feels like a signature track for Maunah that captures our urge to let beauty and doom coexist,” says vocalist Søren Sol Koldsen-Zederkof. “The song carries the feeling of belonging to a place, but it also reflects the more difficult search for a home within oneself.”
Although Hjarta marks Maunah’s first full-length album, the band is made up of veterans of the Danish rock, folk, and metal scenes. Koldsen-Zederkof is known for his work with Danish folk group Krauka and his solo project LOS, while guitarist Mads Medom Papsø Laursen has previously performed with bands including IronGuard and Encyrcle.
Rooted in Scandinavian doom metal while incorporating elements of Nordic folk and modern metal, Hjarta was recorded with assistance from producer Tue Madsen, who handled the bass and drum recordings at Antfarm Studios. The album was later mixed and mastered by Jens Moss Thorsen.
One of the band’s most distinctive traits is its use of non-lexical vocals. Rather than relying on a traditional language, Maunah builds its vocal melodies around tone, rhythm, and emotion, creating a more abstract connection between voice and music.
Hjarta will be released on September 18 on CD, black vinyl, and limited-edition splatter vinyl formats. Maunah have also been confirmed for Prophecy Fest 2026 (September 3-5, Balve, Germany) and Copenhagen Metal Fest 2026 (September 17-19, Copenhagen, Denmark).
