Chat Pile release new single “PEN I S MALL” from ‘Who Loves the Sun’

Chat Pile have released a new single, “PEN I S MALL,” from their upcoming third album, Who Loves the Sun, which arrives September 4.

According to bassist Stin, the song is “the heaviest Chat Pile song to date.” He explained that both the title and lyrics were inspired by vocalist Raygun Busch’s time working as a maintenance employee at a shopping mall in Oklahoma City.

“If survival wasn’t so brutal in the United States, a maintenance job at a local mall could in theory be a fun gig,” Ray B. said of the track. “Of course, the awful beast known as Capitalism is extremely rickety with not enough to truly go around in fair share as those in the lower and even middle positions know all too well.”

The band also premiered an accompanying music video for the song.

Who Loves the Sun follows 2022’s God’s Country and 2024’s Cool World. The album continues the band’s noisy, abrasive sound while lyrically touching on themes including economic hardship, climate change, technology, and modern life. It will be released on September 4.

Chat Pile will support the album with dates across Europe in August before returning to North America this fall. The U.S. run includes an appearance at Riot Fest 2026, along with a hometown fundraiser show in Oklahoma City and additional stops with Soul Glo.
